The 411 on Worship

We at Albany Mennonite Church view Sunday morning worship as a time to be refreshed, to connect with God and with each other, and to be challenged and equipped to participate in God's mission in the world.

As an intergenerational community, music at Albany Mennonite encompasses a variety of genres. Some Sundays we sing mostly a acapella hymns while other Sundays we are led in worship by a contemporary worship band. While our individual preferences in music vary, as a congregation we seek together the holistic engagement of the entire person (mind and emotions, body and spirit) and believe that God accepts our worship in all its diverse styles and forms.

One of our core values as a congregation is participation. We believe worship is not a spectator sport but an activity in which the community is strengthened as believers of all ages contribute their Spirit-given gifts and passions. On a typical Sunday you can expect to see many of our members on the stage participating in various ways-through music, prayer, Scripture readings, dance, drama, personal reflections, or even preaching.

We worship in a family atmosphere and enjoy being together. Most services include an open mic time where we're invited to share each other's joys and sorrows and hear we each other's testimonies of where God is on the move. We frequently share meals and conversation together in the fellowship hall after the service has ended.
